Al-Fayha FC

The Kings Cup final of 2022 came down to penalties, and it was the goalkeeper who decided it. Vladimir Stojković saved his way into Al-Fayha's history that night, giving a club from a town of grain silos and modest ambition its first major trophy.

Al-Majma'ah sits well north of Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia's Sudair region, and the club carries a second nickname for it: Tawahin Sudair, the Millers of Sudair, alongside the more familiar Al-Burtuqali — the Oranges — for the colour split with blue on the shirt. The club traces itself to 1953, though older accounts point to informal football in the town from 1938 and a formal registration only arriving in 1966.

Promotion has been the recurring story more than any cup run. Al-Fayha climbed out of the second division twice, in 1985 and again in 2014, before winning the first division outright in 2017 to reach the top flight. In the Champions League campaign that followed the cup win, Abderrazak Hamdallah's countryman on the pitch, Abdelhamid Sabiri, supplied some of the goals that kept the run alive.

Local rivalry stays close to home: the derby against Al-Mujazzel is a Al-Majma'ah affair, fought out in front of crowds that rarely test the limits of the Al-Majma'ah Sports City, a ground that holds 7,000 and has stayed the club's home through all of it.
