Colonias Gold

In October 2023, a match against Olimpia Kings was abandoned after a racist slur aimed at the visitors' Charles Thomas tipped a physical confrontation into a full stoppage. Colonias Gold, representing the Federación de Colonias Unidas in Obligado, entered the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol only in August 2021, opening against Paranaense de Encarnación.

What followed was an unusually quick climb for a club with no prior top-flight history. Colonias Gold reached its first LNB final in the 2023 Apertura, lost 3-1 to Deportivo San José, then returned in the 2024 Clausura and lost the same series 3-1 to the same opponent. A third final came in 2025, this time against Olimpia Kings, and again ended in defeat, 3-2. Three finals inside three years, and a title still to come.

Nicolás Tischler, the player at the centre of the 2023 incident, is also the closest thing the club has to a defining figure: a Paraguay international whose father, Ariel Tischler, runs the club as president.

Home games are played at the Estadio Municipal Ka'a Poty, known locally simply as the Polideportivo, which holds around 1,500.

Three finals lost to two different opponents have given Colonias Gold its rivalry by default. San José beat them twice on the biggest stage available; Olimpia Kings beat them once more.
