Scottie Wilbekin was named Finals MVP when Darüşşafaka lifted the EuroCup in 2018, the club's only European trophy and the moment David Blatt's side is remembered for in Istanbul basketball.
The basketball section grew out of a much older institution: Darüşşafaka Spor Kulübü, a multi-sport club dating to 1914. Basketball came later, in the 1930s, though the Turkish federation registers 1951 as the branch's own founding date. The club plays as Daçka, a nickname.
Before the EuroCup run, the club's peak had been domestic and decades old: back-to-back Turkish championships in 1961 and 1962.
