Deportivo Amambay

Fifth in the Apertura standings after fourteen rounds, six wins against eight losses, Deportivo Amambay is holding its place in the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol in only its second season in Paraguay's top flight. The club reached the division in 2025: in its debut campaign it took the inaugural Copa Comuneros, beating Deportivo Campoalto across a two-game final, 77–64 on the road and then 110–73 at home to close it out.

That run came from a club that had barely existed for a year. It plays in sky blue, while its everyday nickname, Los Amambaienses, is simply the demonym of the department it represents. Home games are played at the Polideportivo de la Federación Amambaiense de Básquetbol in Pedro Juan Caballero.

Sebastian Galarza has become the player most associated with the current side, top-scoring with 23 points in a June 2026 game against CA Ciudad Nueva.
