Jäähonka Espoo

Jäähonka Espoo play in the II-divisioona, the third tier of Finnish hockey. The team it fields now carries the name of a club that stopped fielding one in 1984, when Jäähonka merged its senior operations into Kiekko-Espoo alongside EPS and EJK. Youth hockey never stopped in Espoo under the Honka banner, and in 2018 the senior team returned to the ice.

Jäähonka won the III-divisioona in its first season back, 2018–19, then took the II-divisioona title in 2022–23 and reached the final of the Suomen Cup the same year, losing there as runners-up.

What the rebuilt club has kept is its academy, which never went away even while the senior side did. Ville Uusitalo came through it before going on to captain HC Ässät and win a Finnish Championship with them in 2013, one of several names the youth system produced across the years it had no senior team of its own to feed players into.

Home games are played at Matinkylän jäähalli, a smaller rink than the Espoo Metro Areena nearby, and in the II-divisioona the fixture that matters most is against GrIFK, the closest thing Espoo hockey has to a derby.
