Machokha

Maseru's football rivalries run through Lioli and Bantu. Formed in 1930, the club belongs to the older generation of Lesotho football, alongside Qoaling Highlanders and Linare.

Promotion back to the Premier League came in the 2020–22 season, when Machokha won the Southern Stream of the A-Division after the pandemic forced the league into suspension and a delayed resumption.

The debut top-flight campaign brought in Montoeli Sonopo, a winger who had already made his name at Lioli and Leribe East Stars and drawn the attention of Atlético Madrid scouts back in 2011. Katiso Mojakhomo took charge for that same season, part of a coaching career that has also taken in Bantu and Kick4Life.

Machokha plays at the Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena, an artificial-turf ground with floodlights that doubles as the headquarters of the Lesotho Football Association. The colours are yellow, white and black, worn in kits supplied by Umbro, and the club carries no nickname, going by its full name in team sheets and league tables alike.

A league title has never come. Neither has the Independence Cup, despite the club's name occasionally being attached to it in error.
