Salon Vilpas Vikings

Korisliiga this season is a title defence for Salon Vilpas Vikings, and after the 2025–26 final it is one they know how to handle: a seven-game series against Kataja BC that ended with Samu Adler taking Finals MVP honours.

The basketball side did not always stand on its own. It grew out of Salon Vilpas ry, a Salo sports club dating to 1908 that started out in gymnastics and athletics under the old workers' sports movement. Basketball only became its own entity in 1996, when the men's team earned promotion to the top division, and the club has since built a habit of winning the games that matter in short bursts: the Suomen Cup twice, in 2019 and again in 2020, when a 94–93 overtime win over Pyrinto Tampere retained the trophy.

Henri Kantanen carried the club to its first league MVP award in 2020, a season before the breakthrough title; Samu Adler has since taken over that role in Salo's current side. A run into the FIBA Basketball Champions League qualifiers in 2021–22 ended quickly, with a defeat to U-BT Cluj-Napoca, but domestically the club now measures itself against UU-Korihait of nearby Uusikaupunki, whose meetings are billed as the Southwest Finland derby.

Salo itself is not a large city.
