Sollentuna

The derby that matters most to Sollentuna HC's supporters is not against the biggest name in Swedish hockey but against Vallentuna BK, a neighbouring club whose town name shares the same "-tuna" ending.

The club itself came together in 1976, when the ice hockey sections of two Sollentuna sides, Turebergs IF and Edsbergs IF, merged into one. Since then it has spent almost its entire existence outside Sweden's top divisions, shuttling between Division 2 and Division 1 — renamed Hockeyettan along the way. Promotion has come in bursts rather than as a steady climb: up for 2004/2005 after winning a qualification series, up again for 2015/2016, and most recently up from Division 2 for 2024/2025. In between, the drop back down has followed just as often.

Home games are played at SVEABArena on Sollentunavallen, built in 1996 and holding 800 spectators, with a second rink, the SVEAB Annex added in 2007. The 2021/2022 season brought a regular-season title in Alltvåan Östra, though the promotion play-offs that followed did not go the club's way.

Sollentuna HC's clearest claim runs through its youth ranks rather than its first team. What the club has produced in players it has not converted into silverware — a national title, at any level, is still missing from its history.
