Imanol Lasuen Adarraga wears the captain's armband for a team that plays in someone else's colours: blue and white, borrowed from Real Sociedad, whose ice hockey section gave rise to the club in 1972. When the football club's hockey section broke apart in the 1975–76 season, the players regrouped under a new name, CHH Txuri Urdin — Basque for blue and white — and kept the shirt they had always worn.
The change of name did nothing to slow the winning.
The women's side has since matched that run. Built around Maria Serna Ezcurdia , Txuri Urdin completed a league and cup double in the 2021–22 season.
Txuri Urdin's oldest rivalries, with CH Jaca and FC Barcelona, have never earned a derby name of their own — the league still speaks of them only as a contest between its two great favourites.
