Divizia A1 Women (Romania) 2026/27

The Divizia A1 de volei feminin stands as the premier professional women's volleyball competition in Romania. Established in 1950 with its inaugural season running from 1949 to 1950, the league predates the Romanian Volleyball Federation (FRV), which was founded in 1958. It sits at the very top of the Romanian volleyball pyramid.

The structure typically involves a regular season followed by play-offs and play-outs. In the regular season, teams play a double round-robin. The top eight teams advance to the play-offs, where they face each other in seeded pairs such as number one against number eight, usually in a best-of-five series. The bottom teams enter play-outs to determine relegation. Relegation is decided by the losers of the play-out series, who drop to Divizia A2. Promotion from that second tier is determined by a "Turneul de Promovare" (Promotion Tournament) featuring the champions and runners-up from the two regional A2 divisions, Vest and Est; the top two teams from this final four are promoted.

Dinamo București is the most successful club in history with 21 titles, including a dominant run of seven consecutive championships from 1957 to 1963. Rapid București follows with 19 titles. In the modern era, CSM Volei Alba Blaj has been the dominant force, winning eight titles between 2015 and 2025. They secured the 2024–2025 championship by defeating CSO Voluntari 3-1 in the final. CSO Voluntari won the 2023–2024 title.

For the 2025–2026 season, the league expanded to 12 clubs, while recent seasons featured 10 teams. The competition operates separately from the men's Divizia A1, though both leagues hold their own Cupa României (Romanian Cup) competitions.
