Divizia A1 (Romania) 2026/27

The Divizia A1 stands as the premier professional men's volleyball league in Romania, operating under the authority of the Romanian Volleyball Federation. Established in 1949, the competition sits at the apex of the national pyramid, positioned above Divizia A2. The annual schedule follows a rigorous double round-robin format during the regular season, after which the field splits into distinct pathways. The top eight clubs advance to play-offs for the championship, engaging in quarter-finals and semi-finals played over best-of-three matches, with the final determined by a best-of-five series. Meanwhile, the lower-ranked teams enter play-outs designed to determine relegation to the second tier.

Dinamo București holds the record for success within the tournament, having claimed the title twenty times. They currently hold the distinction of reigning champion, having secured recent victories in the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 seasons. Steaua București follows as the second most successful entity, holding sixteen titles. European access is governed by CEV coefficients, granting the champion entry to the CEV Champions League qualification, the runner-up or Cup winner a spot in the CEV Cup, and the third-placed team a place in the CEV Challenge Cup.

Unlike many other regional leagues, the Romanian top flight does not carry a commercial sponsor in its official title. It remains distinct from the women’s division, which uses the same name but is officially designated as Divizia A1 feminin. Promotion to this elite level is decided through a final tournament featuring top teams from the regional West and East A2 series.
