Super League Women (England) 2026/27

The MAAREE Women's Super League stands as the premier domestic women's volleyball competition in England, operating under the authority of Volleyball England. It occupies the highest tier of the National Volleyball League pyramid, sitting above Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3. The competition underwent a significant structural shift in 2018 when it transitioned from the 'Super 8s' format, which had run since 2010, to the current league model.

The current season features eight teams, a reduction from the ten sides that competed in the previous campaign. Participation includes clubs such as Derbyshire Women, Durham Women, Essex Rebels Women, Leeds Women, London Lionhearts Women, and Malory Eagles Women. The competitive calendar follows a double round-robin regular season before culminating in a 'Final 4' knockout stage. This championship decider takes place at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, where the top four ranked teams battle for the title.

Historical success is divided between eras. During the Super 8s period, Polonia London secured seven consecutive titles from 2010/11 to 2016/17. Since the rebranding, Team Durham has claimed the crown in the 2017/18, 2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24 seasons. The reigning champions are the Malory Eagles, who won the 2024/25 Final 4. Overall, the Malory Eagles hold the record for the most titles with eight.

The league maintains a direct link with the second tier through promotion and relegation rules. The lowest-placed team faces automatic demotion, while the ninth-placed side enters a playoff against a Division 1 contender. This structure ensures that consistency over the full season remains the primary metric for success, distinguishing the league from other knockout formats.
