Elitserien Women (Sweden) 2026/27

The Elitserien i volleyboll för damer stands as the premier professional women's volleyball league in Sweden. Established in 1961, the competition began operations with its first season concluding in 1962. Initially known as Division 1 until 1971, the entity adopted its current title for the 1971–72 campaign. It remains the highest tier of club volleyball for women within the national structure, overseen by the Swedish Volleyball Federation. The contest features ten teams competing through a rigorous schedule. The regular season operates on a double round-robin basis, ensuring every side faces each opponent twice, once at home and once away. Following this phase, the top eight squads advance to the playoffs to determine the Swedish champion, known as the SM-guld. Currently, Linköpings VC holds the title after securing its maiden victory in the 2024–2025 season. Historical success is dominated by Sollentuna VK, which has captured nineteen titles. Engelholms VS follows with nine championships, while Örebro Volley, formerly known as KFUM Örebro, has claimed eight. A unique element of the league involves RIG Falköping, a squad formed from students at the National High School for Sports. This team participates for developmental reasons and is exempt from relegation, though it cannot qualify for the playoffs or the Grand Prix tournament. Movement between tiers relies on a qualification system rather than direct promotion and relegation. Teams placed low in the Elitserien must navigate a kval process against leading sides from Division 1 to retain their status. The competition maintains its own digital presence at elitserienvolleyboll.se, providing information to supporters and clubs alike.
