The FIVB Volleyball Girls' U19 World Championship stands as the premier international tournament for female players under the age of nineteen. Organised by the FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball), the event sits above continental championships which serve as qualifiers. The competition was founded in 1989, with the inaugural edition held in Brazil. It is held biennially, specifically in odd years, to distinguish it from the FIVB Women's U21 World Championship. This structural separation ensures the U19 title serves as a developmental step before the senior youth level.
The tournament features 24 national teams divided into four pools of six. The preliminary stage follows a round-robin format within the pools. The top four teams from each pool advance to the Round of 16 knockout stage, while the bottom two teams in each pool compete for places 17–24. The knockout phase proceeds through Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals. Qualification is based on continental championships from the AVC, CAVB, CEV, CSV, and NORCECA confederations. The host nation and the defending champion receive automatic spots.
China is the most successful nation with four titles, according to the available record. The current reigning champion is Bulgaria, which won the 2025 edition held in Croatia and Serbia. The United States previously won in 2019 and 2023. Italy has won twice, and Brazil has won three times. In 2022, the FIVB changed the age category from U18 to U19 to align with the Boys' U19 World Championship, though the historical lineage remains continuous from the original 1989 founding.
