Chertanovo and Neftekhimik played out a 1-1 draw in the Cup Regions Path quarter-final on Tuesday, with the tie eventually decided by a penalty shootout. The match took place on 2026-09-09 at the home ground of the hosts.
Ramil Gainullin opened the scoring for Chertanovo in the 24th minute, giving the hosts an early advantage. Neftekhimik responded through Islam Mashukov who equalised 10 minutes later. Both sides had their disciplinary issues, with Matvey Melnikov and Platon Platonov each receiving yellow cards before the break.
When the regular 90 minutes ended level, the quarter-final went to penalties. Chertanovo converted four spots, with Daniil Korunov, Dmitriy Kondrashov, Ivan Pyatkin and Ivan Polyakov all finding the net. Neftekhimik had George Safronov and Nikita Vasiljev score, but Ivan Khomukha, Semen Semenov and Surkhaykhan Abdullaev missed their attempts.
Statistically, Neftekhimik controlled more of the ball with 55 per cent possession compared to 45 for Chertanovo. The visitors also registered eight shots on target to the hosts' two, though Chertanovo managed more corners with four to five. Neither side saw any red cards during the contest.
The result means one team advances while the other goes home in the Regions Path. Both sides entered the match with mixed form, Chertanovo having beaten KDV 4-2 in their most recent outing while Neftekhimik secured a 2-0 victory over Enisey.
