Dobrichovice beat Plzeň 3:2 in the Czech Cup on Saturday evening. The result puts the home side through while the visitors are eliminated from the competition. Neither team has played a league game yet this season, so the standing positions remain empty.
And here's the thing — three goals to two tells you it was never going to be straightforward. The hosts took their chances when they came, and that's what matters in cup football. Plzeň pushed hard but couldn't find the equaliser they needed.
By then the visitors had been through some mixed results recently. They lost 0:3 to ČZU Prague and 1:3 to Karlovarsko S earlier in September, but had won 3:0 against České Budějovice B and 3:1 with Holubice. This defeat adds to those setbacks.
Dobrichovice came into this having beaten Kladruby 2 3:0 on the same day in a different fixture. Before that they'd had a run against Beskids — three losses and one win. The cup win gives them something positive to build on.
