Hammam-Sousse and Monastir played out a 0-0 draw in Ligue 1's Regular Season on Saturday evening. The result keeps both sides within touching distance of each other at this early stage of the campaign.
K. Mechergui picked up a yellow card in the thirty-first minute before the interval arrived. Monastir brought on S. Bouali at the restart, and the visitors pushed forward with more intent.
Both managers made double changes around the hour mark. M. Baayou and F. B. Slimane came on for Hammam-Sousse in the sixty-first, while Monastir responded with their own adjustments. The game settled into a rhythm where neither side could find a breakthrough.
More substitutions followed as the match wore on. M. A. Jarraya entered for Hammam-Sousse in the seventy-sixth, and R. Bouchniba came on eight minutes later. Monastir brought on I. Houli in the eighty-fifth and M. Ganouni just after the hour-and-a-half mark.
Discipline issues were minimal, with M. Ben Hassan and A. Benga both booked. The visitors dominated possession at 55 per cent and registered 90 attacks, but their extra shots on target — three compared to two — made little difference.
Hammam-Sousse managed 74 attacks with 45 per cent possession, while Monastir's 90 attacks and 55 per cent share of the ball told a different story. The visitors also had more shots off target, six to four, and their three attempts on goal failed to test the goalkeeper enough.
Monastir sit fifth with four points from two games, while Hammam-Sousse occupy twelfth place with just one point. The stalemate means neither side has gained an advantage in the race for consistency.
