Managua and Diriangén played out a 2:2 draw in the eighth round of the Apertura stage of the Primera División on Wednesday evening. The hosts had been unbeaten in their opening six matches, while the visitors sat third in the table with a similar unbeaten record.
Managua started brightly, with goals coming at nine and ten minutes, before Diriangén responded through Barja and Hernandez. Diaz added another for the home side at twenty-nine minutes, but Ramirez and Coronel brought the visitors back into the contest before the interval.
Things came to a head late on when Managua were reduced to ten men at 90+6 minutes. The visitors seized the moment, adding a goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time to salvage a point from what had been a dominant home performance.
Managua controlled 65 per cent of possession and registered 78 attacks compared with Diriangén's 57. The home side also had eight corners to two, though both teams managed six shots on target between them.
The result means Managua remain top of the table with six wins from six games and eighteen points. Diriangén stay in third place on fourteen points, having lost none in the opening half of the season.
