Bornholm Storm Past Nakskov in Danish Cup
Næstved/Bornholm saw off Nakskov 4-1 in the Round of 128 of the Danish Cup on Saturday. The hosts, who had been struggling recently, produced a performance that extended their unbeaten run to eight in this competition. Nakskov arrived with mixed form but found themselves on the wrong side of a comfortable victory.
Bornholm took control early, striking twice in the opening quarter. They scored at the 14-minute mark and added a second just ten minutes later, putting the visitors under immediate pressure. Nakskov's defence switched off at a set piece in the opening exchanges, and the hosts took full advantage.
The second half opened with Bornholm extending their lead, finding the net at 53 minutes. Nakskov responded with a goal of their own at 58, but the hosts answered straight away to restore their two-goal cushion. The visitors had looked dangerous on their last outing with a 7-1 win, but this time they were out-thought on the touchline.
Bornholm completed their scoring at 73 minutes, making the result a comfortable four-goal margin. The hosts had been inconsistent in recent league matches, losing three of their last five games, but cup football has its own rules. They came out with conviction and didn't look back.
The victory moves Bornholm one step closer to the next round of the Danish Cup. Nakskov's cup dream ends here despite their impressive 7-1 victory over Vallesbæk in their previous outing. The hosts will need to maintain this level if they hope to progress further.
