S. Rahimi opened the scoring just before the interval, striking in the 45th minute to give Al-Ain the lead. The goal came after Osasuna had dominated possession for much of the opening half, though their attacks lacked precision. Al-Ain doubled their advantage soon after the break when J. Santos found the net in the 73rd minute. The home side made three changes during the contest, bringing on A. Budimir, M. Gomez and I. Arguibide in search of a response. Osasuna had won two of their five recent friendlies before this defeat.
Both sides received two yellow cards during the match, with the bookings coming in the second half. Osasuna controlled 54 per cent of possession and registered 87 attacks compared to Al-Ain's 83. The visitors managed only one corner against six for the hosts, suggesting a different pattern of play.
The result extends Al-Ain's strong record in recent friendlies, having scored 20 goals across their last five matches while conceding just eight. Osasuna's run of two wins in a row came to an end, though they had previously beaten Norwich City and Ipswich in the build-up to this tournament.
