Stevenage secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Luton in the sixth round of League One on Wednesday evening. The hosts took the lead in the first half before Luton fought back to take control, only for the visitors to collapse late on. It was a result that kept the momentum for Stevenage while handing Luton their first defeat in five games.
Daniel Kemp opened the scoring at the 23rd minute, giving the home side a cushion they would need later. Luton responded with urgency, and Josh Magennis pulled one back at the 70th minute to level the tie. The match seemed to be drifting towards a draw until Mads Juel Andersen struck for the visitors at the 75th minute.
The game was physical from the start, with Daniel Phillips booking early at the 4th minute. By then, the intensity had risen, and Lewis Freestone and Liam Walsh went into the referee's book shortly after. Daniel Kemp joined the list of cautions at the 44th minute, and Saxon Earley picked up a yellow card late on. The hosts also saw Luther Wildin cautioned in stoppage time, while Andersen received a booking for Luton at the 90+5th minute.

Luton held 71 per cent possession and launched 128 attacks compared to Stevenage's 78, yet they managed only two shots on target. Stevenage played with less control but higher efficiency, recording three shots on target from six attempts. And here's the thing, the away side created more chances but failed to convert, while the hosts rescued a point through clinical finishing.
The result leaves Stevenage in 16th place with six points from five matches. Luton remain in seventh position with eight points, extending their unbeaten run to four games after the loss. The gap between the teams remains small, but the performance highlighted the difference in their current form.
