Aarón Anselmino lifted the FIFA Club World Cup in his first months as a Chelsea player, coming off the bench in the Round of 16 win over Benfica and staying involved through the 3-0 final victory over Paris Saint-Germain. It was a fast start for a centre-back who had signed for the London club barely a year earlier, in August 2024, for a fee reported around £15.6 million, while spending the intervening season back on loan at Boca Juniors.

Born in Bernardo Larroudé, Anselmino began playing for Juventud Unida and Sportivo Realicó before Boca Juniors took him into their academy. He made his senior debut for the Argentine club on the same day he signed his first professional contract, in June 2023, and won the Evo Cup with Boca's youth side the year before that.

Since the Club World Cup triumph, his path has been unsettled. A loan to Borussia Dortmund in August 2025 brought ten appearances and a first senior goal in November, but muscle injuries disrupted his time there, and Chelsea recalled him in January 2026 as part of a squad reshuffle that also brought Mamadou Sarr back from Strasbourg. Anselmino was sent the other way, joining Strasbourg on loan in February.

At youth international level, Anselmino has earned two caps for Argentina's under-20 side, though he was not included in the squad for the 2025 South American U-20 Championship after being called up during preparations for it.
