Abdoulie Sanyang

In February 2026, ML Vitebsk of Belarus put 500,000 euros plus bonuses on the table for Abdoulie Sanyang. Hajduk Split said no, and so did the player.

Sanyang had arrived at Hajduk in the summer of 2024 as a specific request from head coach Gennaro Gattuso. He was presented on 21 July 2024 and took the number 24 shirt.

The route there ran through several countries. Registered with Superstars Academy in his native Gambia from 2018 to 2022, he never played a competitive match for the academy's senior side; instead he was sent out on loan. A short spell at Bnei Yehuda in Israel came first, in the spring of 2018. Then Belgium: 22 league appearances and two goals for Lommel SK in 2019/20, followed by 30 league games for Beerschot VA between August 2020 and January 2022.

France is where the numbers started to move. Sanyang joined Grenoble on a permanent deal on 31 January 2022 and scored 11 times in 72 league matches, with another goal in the Coupe de France — 12 in 77 across all competitions.

At Hajduk the goals have come more sparingly: six in 52 league games across three seasons, one in the cup, one in Europe. This season he has featured twice in the Europa League, starting against MŠK Žilina on 16 July 2026 and coming off the bench against Pafos on 30 July.

For Gambia, he has 22 caps since 2020, taking in qualifying campaigns for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup. He is yet to score.
