About the player
Adam Rhys Davies came through Everton's academy, staying with the club until 2012. A move to Sheffield Wednesday brought a month-to-month contract but no senior appearance, and at Barnsley, from 2014, he became an established goalkeeper, making 184 league appearances across five seasons. That spell brought the club's Player of the Year award in 2018–19, a place in the PFA Team of the Year and the EFL Team of the Season for League One, as well as promotion via the League One play-offs in 2016 and a Football League Trophy win the same year.
He left Barnsley as a free agent in 2019 and signed for Stoke City, with 33 league appearances over three seasons.
He has since gone to two major tournaments with the national side, named in the squad for Euro 2020 as third-choice goalkeeper and again for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and has featured in Nations League fixtures including a competitive debut against Bulgaria.
