Alex Valdés

The step to eleven-a-side football, and to Santiago Morning's first team, only came in 2022, in the Chilean second division, where he made close to twenty league appearances without finding the net.

Ñublense signed him in January 2023, and the move worked out from the first minute: Valdés scored on his debut against Magallanes on 27 January. It set the tone for a season in which he became a regular starter, playing 22 league matches, scoring three goals, and getting his first taste of continental football in the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.

The following year brought fewer minutes in the league — eleven appearances — but Ñublense reached the final of the Copa Chile, finishing as runners-up. Reports differ on how much of that cup run Valdés actually played.

In January 2025 the club sent him out on loan to Cobreloa, back in the second division. He returned to Ñublense in January 2026 and has kept his number 22 shirt, appearing in twelve league matches with one assist to his name.

Valdés operates as a winger or forward, comfortable cutting in from the left. There is no record of a call-up to Chile's senior national football team; his only representative experience remains that youth futsal squad from 2018.
