About the player
Alexandru Bălanica arrived at Oţelul this year on the back of a promotion in the strictest sense: a season on loan at Unirea Braniștea, playing in Liga 3, ended with the forward being taken up two divisions to SuperLiga. Romanian outlets covering the move framed it as the kind of step that does not happen often. He signed with Oţelul as a free agent once the loan spell finished.
Before that, Bălanica had been registered with ACS Sport Team, the Bucharest-based club under whose colours he took his first senior minutes.
