Arlo Doherty

London-born and Dublin- and Donegal-rooted through his grandparents, Arlo Doherty chose Ireland over England early, turning out for the U16s and U19s in qualifiers against Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina and a friendly against Sweden. He has not yet won a senior cap.

His path started far from Waterford. Doherty made his first mark as an under-11 at his local club, Kentish Town FC, winning the league and reaching the London Cup final, before Norwich City picked him up. A single Under-18 appearance there in January 2018 was enough to catch Manchester City's attention, and within a year he had moved on again, this time to Leicester City on a schoolboy scholarship.

First-team football, when it came, arrived away from Leicester. He went on an emergency loan to Mickleover in November 2021, then returned to non-league football with Kettering Town late in the 2023/24 season, making five appearances there. Leicester released him on 1 July 2024.

That summer he crossed to Derry City, training with the club from September before signing an 18-month deal in December. He competed with Brian Maher for the number one shirt and featured for the Under-20s, but left at the end of the 2025 season. Doherty signed for Waterford as a free agent on 1 January 2026, on a deal running to the end of November that year.
