Bernard Tekpetey

Bernard Tekpetey came through the UniStar Soccer Academy before Schalke 04 signed him in February 2016. Altach took him for the 2017–18 season, and after a run at Paderborn — who paid roughly €200,000 to sign him outright in 2018 — he went back to Schalke, only to be sent out again, this time to Fortuna Düsseldorf for 2019–20.

The move that defined his career came in 2020, when he joined Ludogorets Razgrad on loan; a permanent deal followed in June 2021 for around €900,000. He has won five Bulgarian First League titles in a row, from 2020–21 through to 2024–25, added five Bulgarian Supercups and two Bulgarian Cups, and in 2022 was named Bulgarian Football Best Foreign Player.

At international level his involvement with Ghana has been limited to two caps, the first of them on his debut against Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2017. In June 2024 he said he holds a Bulgarian passport and confirmed that the Bulgarian Football Union had approached him over switching allegiance, though he noted that his earlier competitive appearances for Ghana could complicate any such move under FIFA's eligibility rules.
