Hendrik Bonmann

Hendrik Bonmann came through Schalke 04's youth ranks before finishing his development at Rot-Weiss Essen, and in 2013 he moved on a free transfer to Borussia Dortmund. He spent four years attached to the senior squad there without making a single competitive appearance, playing instead for the reserves in the Regionalliga West and going out on loan twice to TSV 1860 Munich, where he gained his first taste of senior football in the 2. Bundesliga and 3. Liga. He was on Dortmund's books when the club won the DFB-Pokal in 2016–17 and the DFL-Supercup in 2013, but he was left out of the matchday squad for the cup final, with Roman Bürki and Roman Weidenfeller preferred instead. The turning point for Bonmann's career came once he left Dortmund. He joined 1860 Munich permanently in 2017, then moved to Würzburger Kickers in 2020 and established himself as a number one, leading the club to the Regionalliga Bayern title and promotion to the 3. Liga. A subsequent move took him to Austria's Wolfsberger AC in 2022. In May 2024 Bonmann signed for Ludogorets Razgrad on a free transfer, and the switch paid off immediately: in his first season he was the club's starting goalkeeper as Ludogorets won both the Bulgarian First League and the Bulgarian Cup. Born in Essen, he has represented Germany at Under-19 level, though without featuring in a match at that age group, and he has not been capped by the senior national team.
