About the player
Diren Dağdeviren came through Hoffenheim's academy, moving from the U17s to the U19s and picking up a DFB-Pokal der Junioren winner's medal with the side that beat SC Freiburg U19 3:2 after extra time in the 2023/24 final. He stepped up to Hoffenheim II in April 2024 and made his senior debut in the 3. Liga against FC Schweinfurt, coming off the bench in a 1-1 draw. He has since made appearances for the second team across all competitions, scoring twice, and started one of his three outings in the current 3. Liga campaign.
Born in Mannheim to a German passport, Dağdeviren chose to represent Turkey at youth level. He was capped three times for the Turkey U17s before stepping up to the U19s, where he went on to earn a dozen appearances. He was part of the Turkey squad at the 2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Northern Ireland, where the side drew 3-3 with Denmark and lost to Spain in the group stage, finishing third in Group B and missing out on the semi-finals.
A right-footed defensive midfielder, he wears the number 8 for Hoffenheim II. His path so far has been entirely internal to the club: no transfer fees are attached to his progress from the youth ranks into the senior set-up, and he continues to build minutes in the 3. Liga.
