About the player
Diego van Zutphen's career has run in a loop back to where it started. He began at ZSV Zeilberg and SV Deurne before joining the Helmond Sport academy in 2013, then moved on to VVV-Venlo's youth setup in 2016.
The breakthrough came on 2 February 2024, when he was named in the starting eleven for VVV-Venlo away at Jong PSV after Robin Lathouwers and Dylan Timber were ruled out through injury. Van Zutphen helped his side to a 3-2 win on his senior debut. He made 12 Eerste Divisie appearances that season.
His involvement grew the following season, with 18 league appearances and one outing in the KNVB Cup for VVV-Venlo in 2024-2025. His contract was not renewed when it ran out in the summer of 2026, and in August that year he returned to Helmond Sport, joining the first team on an amateur basis.
