Emerson

Emerson was born in Odesa and holds both Ukrainian and Congolese nationality. He made his international debut on 5 September 2017 against Ghana, a World Cup qualifier the Congolese won 5-1, and he scored in that match.

His path to Volgograd ran through Ukraine and then Russia. He came through the Chornomorets Odesa academy before senior football took him to Karpaty Lviv, a loan at Niva Ternopil, and three seasons at Olimpik Donetsk, where he made 40 league appearances. A move abroad followed in 2018, to Danish side Vejle, interrupted by loan spells at Chinese club R&F and, back in Russia, at Armavir.

It was in Russia that his career took shape. At SKA-Khabarovsk he made 47 appearances and helped the club up into the Russian Premier League. He moved to Ural Yekaterinburg, where over 43 top-flight matches he scored against Krasnodar, Fakel and Lokomotiv Moscow. A spell at Yenisey Krasnoyarsk in the First League preceded his move to Rotor Volgograd, where he signed a one-year deal from 1 July 2025.

At Rotor he has continued to contribute goals from the back, with a decisive strike in a 2-2 draw against Nizhny Novgorod among his eight appearances so far. Across his time in Russian football he has scored ten goals, a return built largely on his physical presence and his threat at set-pieces.
