Franck William Surdez

Franck Surdez came home in January 2026, when Sion signed the winger from KAA Gent on a permanent deal running to the summer of 2030. It closed a loop that began at Neuchâtel Xamax, where he made his senior debut in 2020 and, over the following four seasons, made 61 appearances and scored 13 goals, 11 of them in the league itself. That form earned him a nomination for the division's Best Player award, though the prize went to Daniel Dos Santos rather than to him.

The move to Gent in January 2024 put a firm number on his progress: a transfer fee of around €1.3 million and a contract to 2027. In Belgium he featured regularly, 60 appearances in total, and got a taste of continental football in the 2024–25 Europa Conference League, though goals were harder to come by there, with four in his time at the club. Two years on, Sion brought him back to Switzerland for a similar fee, handing him the number 19 shirt.

Surdez has also had a run through the Swiss youth ranks, capped once for the under-20s with a goal to show for it, then stepping up to the under-21s, where he added ten appearances and two more goals across 2023 and 2024.
