About the player
Two Austrian clubs were weighing up a move for him in the summer of 2025. The early reports sent him to LASK; the signature went elsewhere, and in August 2025 he joined Rapid Wien from Racing Club d'Abidjan. No fee was disclosed.
Kone comes from Abobo, in Abidjan, and it was at Racing Club d'Abidjan that he was first given senior football. He was in the squad through the 2024/25 season, including the club's CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
He is used mainly as a centre-back, but the versatility is part of the reason clubs looked at him: he has also been deployed at right-back and in front of the defence as a holding midfielder. That flexibility followed him to Austria.
The Vienna spell was short. In July 2026 Kone moved again, this time to FK Mačva Šabac of the Serbian SuperLiga, once more without a fee being made public.
He has represented Ivory Coast at under-20 level, and it was in youth competition that his name first travelled beyond the Ivorian league.
