About the player
Jelle van der Heyden began his youth career at Koninklijke UD before moving through Go Ahead Eagles and into the academy at FC Twente, where he progressed to the senior squad in 2014. Over five seasons at Twente he made 63 league appearances and added five in the KNVB Beker, scoring once in the Eerste Divisie in 2018/19 after the club's relegation; in the Eredivisie he went without a goal.
In September 2019 he left on a free transfer for Vendsyssel FF in Denmark, where he stayed until 2023 and made 87 league appearances. He then moved to IFK Mariehamn in Finland's Veikkausliiga, making 12 appearances and scoring twice, before another free transfer took him to B36 Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands in January 2024, where he scored once in 22 league games. He returned to IFK Mariehamn in March 2025 for the rest of the season.
At youth level, van der Heyden was capped twice for the Netherlands under-15s in 2009 and added three appearances for the under-21s, including at the 2015 Toulon Tournament. He has not featured for the senior Dutch national side.
