About the player
Karlo Lusavec came through the youth ranks at NK Novi Marof before moving on to NK Varaždin. He made his debut for Varaždin in the 2020–21 season and went on to become a regular starter there, racking up around 55 league appearances without finding the net. In the second half of the 2022–23 season he spent a loan spell at NK Dugopolje, adding 14 more appearances to his tally.
In August 2024, Lusavec left Croatia for Denmark, joining AC Horsens for a fee of €700,000, with potential bonuses and a sell-on clause retained by Varaždin. He signed a contract running until June 2028, arriving at a club then playing in the Danish 1st Division.
Lusavec has represented Croatia at various youth levels. He collected six caps for the under-19 side, three of them in friendlies and three in European Championship qualifiers, and also featured in the qualifying round for the 2022 European Under-19 Championship. A single appearance for the under-20 team followed in a 2022 friendly. At under-21 level, he earned two caps in friendly matches during 2024 and was included in the squad for Croatia's qualifying campaign for the 2025 European Under-21 Championship. He has not yet been called up to the senior national team.
