Lars Lukas Mai

Lars Lukas Mai grew up in Dresden and joined Dynamo Dresden's youth setup before moving to Bayern Munich's academy in 2014. He rose through the club's youth ranks as captain of the U17 side, leading it to a Bundesliga U17 title and earning the bronze Fritz Walter Medal in that age group in 2017. Two Bundesliga appearances followed for Bayern's first team in the 2017–18 season, the campaign in which the club won the league, though his number of appearances fell short of the threshold for an official medal.

In June 2022 he left Bayern for FC Lugano, a transfer reported at around €400,000, with some sources citing a higher figure of up to €1.6 million including a buyback clause. He signed an initial three-year contract, since extended to 2027, and has established himself as a regular starter in Switzerland, making 23 appearances in his first season and 35 the following campaign across all competitions.

At international level, Mai came through Germany's youth teams from U15 to U21 and was part of the squad that won the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He came on as a substitute in the quarter-final against Denmark, where he set up the equalising goal and then scored his penalty in the shootout.
