About the player
Caldirola came through the Inter academy but never settled into the first team. Between 2010 and 2013 he belonged to the club while spending his seasons elsewhere: on loan at Vitesse in the Netherlands, then at Brescia. In 2011 half his registration went to Cesena as part of the deal that took Yuto Nagatomo to Inter, valued at €2.5m; Inter bought the share back for the same figure two years later.
In June 2013 he moved to Werder Bremen for €2.5m, including the 2015-16 season on loan at Darmstadt 98. Injuries shaped it. From September 2016 he missed more than 200 days.
He left as a free agent in January 2019 and signed for Benevento, then joined Monza in July 2021 for €800,000, where he wore number 5 for four seasons.
That run ended with silver at the 2013 European Championship, Italy losing the final 4-2 to Spain. The senior national team never came.
In October 2025 he signed for Folgore Caratese as a free agent. In 2026 he returned to Benevento — a move Soccerway put at €120,000 — and took the number 33 shirt.
