About the player
Mahir Bešić took his first steps in football at FK Tuzla City, where he was part of the club's pioniri age group. In the middle of 2022, aged 15, he moved to the Omladinska škola FK Velež "Muhamed Mujić" in Mostar, joining the cadet ranks and working his way up through the youth system.
The step up came ahead of the 2025/26 season, when Bešić was named captain of Velež's junior side. He repaid the trust with 19 appearances and 10 goals for the U19 team, numbers that put him in contention for senior football. His first-team debut followed: two league appearances, against Borac Banja Luka and Posušje, plus a Cup outing against Majevice. He also got a taste of European football, coming off the bench in Conference League qualifying matches against Milsami Orhei and DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda.
Bešić has also been capped for Bosnia and Herzegovina at youth level, with four appearances to his name by May 2026.
