About the player
Matilda Ekblom made her way to Piteå IF. She started out at Gideonsbergs IF before moving on to BK Häcken, where she spent time with the reserve side in Elitettan, scoring three goals in 16 appearances there, and was also given a run with Häcken's senior squad. Since her move she has established herself as a regular in the Damallsvenskan side, making 16 league appearances in her first season.
Ekblom's progress has not gone unnoticed by the national federation. She has represented Sweden through the youth ranks, starting for the U17s against the USA and later being included in the U19 squad for fixtures against Denmark. She has yet to be capped at senior level.
An attacking midfielder comfortable on the wing, Ekblom plays with her right foot and wears the number 20 shirt for Piteå.
