About the player

Mike Kleijn spent almost his entire youth career inside Feyenoord, having joined the Rotterdam club's academy at the age of six after leaving Baroni. He signed his first professional contract there in November 2020, and he was once included in the squad for a UEFA Conference League fixture, though he did not leave the bench that night and never made his senior debut for the club.

In April 2024, with his contract at De Kuip having run out, Kleijn signed for Sparta Rotterdam as a free agent, joining ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Guardian later named him among its "Next Generation" list of the world's most promising young players born in 2005.

Kleijn has represented the Netherlands at under-15, under-17, under-18 and under-19 level, scoring at both under-17 and under-19. He has not yet featured for the senior national team.

At club level, he has made 21 appearances in all competitions without scoring.
