About the player
Marius Könkkölä's career took an early turn when, still a teenager, he left the HJK academy for KRC Genk in Belgium in January 2020.
He made 15 Veikkausliiga appearances for Oulu before moving on to FC Lahti, where injuries again limited him to 12 games in 2023 and 18 in 2024. A switch to SJK in January 2025 brought just a single first-team league appearance, most of his football that year coming for the club's reserve side, SJK Akatemia, in the Ykkösliiga, where he scored three goals in 13 outings.
His move to Turku PS in August 2025 changed the picture. Könkkölä became part of a TPS squad that won the Ykkösliiga title and then beat KTP Kotka 6–2 on aggregate in the promotion play-offs, securing the club's return to the Veikkausliiga.
Könkkölä has represented Finland at youth level, with caps for the U15, U16 and U17 sides, scoring once for the U16s.
