TPS spent 2025 outside the Veikkausliiga and won its way back in through the promotion play-offs.
Founded in Turku in 1922, TPS is one of the few Finnish clubs never to have merged with another, and it did not leave the top division at all until 2000 — a run of eight decades intact. Since then the club has had to settle for shorter bursts: two Finnish Cups in the 1990s, a third in 2010, and a League Cup in 2012.
Two names carry the club's reputation abroad. Lukas Hradecki came through the TPS goalkeeping ranks before going on to win the European Championship with Finland and become a Bayer Leverkusen player. Long before him, Mika Aaltonen scored against Internazionale in the 1987 UEFA Cup, a goal that got him a move to Italy soon after. Mixu Paatelainen , in one of his spells in charge, took the club to a bronze medal in 2007.
Games are played at the Veritas Stadion, still known locally by its old name, Kupittaa, and holding 9,072 after its most recent rebuild.
