Marcos Andrés López

At 167cm and barely 60kg, Marcos Andrés López is on the right side of the back line that he has made his career, mostly at home in Cuenca. He came through at Deportivo Cuenca, the club of his own city, before a move to Quito in 2016 took him to Universidad Católica, where he stayed for five seasons and played in the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana.

In 2018, while at Universidad Católica, López was named to the Ecuadorian league's team of the season. He left the club in 2021 and spent the following two years on the move: a short stint at LDU Quito, then a spell in Peru with Carlos A. Mannucci, followed by a brief appearance for Juan Aurich.

He returned to Deportivo Cuenca, where he has stayed since. Across his two spells there he has built up a lengthy run of appearances — his career total sits at over thirty goals in club competition, more than a dozen of them for Cuenca alone.

López has never been capped by Ecuador at any level, senior or youth, despite a career spent almost entirely in the country's top flight.
