Neil Volken

Neil Volken came through FC Zurich's own academy, joining the club's youth system at the age of twelve and working his way up through the U19 and U21 sides before a promotion to the senior squad. He made his senior debut on 25 July 2025, away to FC Sion in the Swiss Super League, starting and playing the full 90 minutes as Zurich went down 3-2. That first season at the top level brought five appearances, and he has since become a more regular fixture, with nine outings the following campaign and a further three in the current one.

The club moved quickly to tie down its academy product, handing Volken a contract extension until 2030 in June 2025. Before his senior breakthrough, he spent the 2024/2025 season with FC Zurich II in the Promotion League, making 16 appearances as part of his development.

At youth international level, the left-footed defender has been a regular for Switzerland, gathering caps across the U16, U17, U18 and U19 age groups, including several fixtures in Euro U17 qualification. He was also part of the FC Zurich squad that won the Swiss U17 Championship, an early marker of the pathway that has since brought him into senior football at his home-town club.
