About the player
Olly Whyte came through Motherwell's academy and joined the first-team setup in January 2023. The most productive of those came at Cowdenbeath in 2024/25, where the midfielder made 31 appearances and scored three goals, form that earned him a clean sweep of the club's individual awards — Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, Supporters' Player of the Year and the Coo Shed Podcast Player of the Year all went to him in the same season. That run persuaded Motherwell to hand him a new one-year contract.
A move to Stenhousemuir under an SFA cooperation agreement followed for 2025/26, and it turned into the busiest season of Whyte's career: 47 appearances and 10 goals as the club won promotion to the Scottish Championship for the first time in its history.
In September 2026 he moved again, joining Ayr United on loan for the rest of the 2026/27 season. The switch reunited him with Gary Naysmith, his manager at Stenhousemuir, who had since taken charge at Ayr. Whyte is still waiting to make his first appearance for the club.
