About the player
Romelle Donovan made his Birmingham City debut in October 2023 at the age of 16, becoming the club's second-youngest ever debutant behind Jude Bellingham. He had joined the club's youth system in 2013 and signed his first professional contract that same November. In his first senior season he made seven league appearances for Birmingham, and the club's under-18 side won the Professional Development League that year.
A loan to Burton Albion in August 2024 gave the young attacking midfielder regular football, including his first senior goal in an EFL Trophy win over Northampton Town, before he was recalled to Birmingham that December. The move became permanent in June 2025, in a deal reported at between £3 million and £3.6 million.
At Brentford he featured four times in the Premier League and three times in the FA Cup for the first team, with a further appearance for Brentford B. In July 2026 he moved on again, joining Sheffield United on a season-long loan for the Championship campaign and taking the number 11 shirt.
Donovan has also represented England at youth level, with caps and a goal for the under-18s, further caps for the under-19s, and an appearance for the under-20s.
