About the player
Sanzhar Anuarov came through the FC Astana academy before joining the club's reserve side, FC Astana M, at the start of 2023. He spent that year in the Kazakhstan First League and the following season in the Kazakhstan Second League, moving up to the main squad in March 2024. His progression through the ranks came without any transfer fee changing hands.
Anuarov made his senior debut for FC Astana in the Kazakhstan Premier League and the Kazakhstan Cup during the 2024/2025 season, and has since also appeared for the club in the UEFA Conference League. He is yet to win a major title with the first team; Kairat took the league championship in both 2024 and 2025, and Astana finished third in the 2026 standings.
He scored his first senior goal in April 2026 during that season's Kazakhstan Cup, though Astana were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Tobol. At international level, Anuarov has been capped twice by the Kazakhstan under-21 side without finding the net, and has not yet been called up to the senior national team.
