About the player
Simon Straudi is a right-footed defender from Brunico who took an unusually long route through the German academy system before finding regular first-team football abroad. He joined Werder Bremen's youth setup in 2016 after stints at ASC St. Georgen and FC Südtirol, and was included in the first-team squad from 2019 to 2022 without ever making a competitive appearance for the senior side. His football was built instead with Werder Bremen II in the Regionalliga, where he made 49 appearances.
After a season back with Bremen's reserves he committed to the Austrian club permanently in 2022. Over three seasons in the Austrian Bundesliga he made 53 appearances for Klagenfurt without scoring.
Straudi's move to FC Energie Cottbus in September 2025 carried a small distinction: he became the first Italian player to sign for the club. He made 21 competitive appearances across the 3. Liga and the DFB-Pokal that season as Cottbus won promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. He moved on again in the summer of 2026, joining SG Dynamo Dresden on a free transfer with a contract running to 2028. He has made two league appearances for Dresden so far.
At youth level, Straudi was called up to Italy's Under-16 side, though he has not featured for any senior national team.
