About the player
Tomáš Vlček came through Slavia Praha's academy after starting out at TJ Novoměstský Kladno and SK Kladno, joining Slavia in 2011 and signing his first professional contract with the club in 2019. Rather than pushing straight into the first team, he spent four seasons out on loan, first at FK Ústí nad Labem, then two years at FC Vysočina Jihlava, where he made 55 appearances, and finally a season at FK Pardubice with 34 appearances.
Vlček made his Fortuna Liga debut for Slavia in July 2023, and within a year he was part of the squad that won the 2023/2024 league title. His breakthrough at international level followed the same pattern of steady progress: he was called up to the Czech Republic senior national team and made his debut on 26 March 2024, in a 2-1 friendly win over Armenia.
A right-footed defender by trade, Vlček's route to regular first-team football was built on the loan spells that toughened him up outside the capital before he established himself back at Slavia.
